Finally, some common sense. Europe has its own economic interests and geopolitical position to navigate. Blindly following the US on China would be detrimental to many of our key industries, especially Germany's automotive sector and tech. We can't afford to alienate a massive market just because Washington says so.

Yeah, no sh*t. The US has been pushing decoupling for years, but it's not their economy that'll primarily suffer in Europe.

Exactly. My cousin works for a chemical plant that exports like 40% of its output to China. Tell him to 'decouple' and see how fast his company goes under. These political statements often ignore ground reality.

It's more complex than just 'not following the US.' There's a delicate balance. Europe wants to reduce *dependency* on China, especially in critical raw materials and specific tech, but a full 'decoupling' like some US hawks advocate is economically unfeasible and strategically unwise. It's about 'de-risking,' not severing.

De-risking is just code for 'we want to keep making money without looking too bad'.

But shouldn't we stand up for human rights no matter the cost? Money isn't everything.
