The "You Own the Data Act" (YODA) was introduced on May 4th, 2026. The bill would give individuals more control over how companies can collect and share their data.

Finally! Been waiting for something like this. Though "control" often just means "opt out of every single thing individually," which is exhausting.

Good luck enforcing it. Companies will just move the goalposts or use dark patterns. We need actual teeth in the law, not just a bill.

Exactly. It's a game of whack-a-mole right now. GDPR helped, but even that's hard to police effectively across borders.
